Robert McPherson (b.1982, Norway) began freelancing for Norway´s Aftenposten National newspaper in 2011. For Aftenposten newspaper, he covered features, sports, portraiture, news and culture. His work has also been published in Aftenposten`s weekly magazine. In 2014 he also freelanced for the national newspaper Dagens Næringsliv. His main client internationally was Sipa Press; the largest press agency in France. Today, he is a father of three and does not work as freelance photojournalist on a daily basis. With photography he now focus on personal projects.

Robert studied for a Bachelor of Communications at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. (2002-2005) For his bachelor degree, he completed a double major in film and photography. In 2006, he graduated with an honors degree focusing on documentary photography.

Robert McPherson was a winner in an international photography contest about "Self-Isolation" during Covid-19 in 2020. His winning image was part of an exhibition in Vermont (USA) curated by Photoplace gallery.

In 2015 he was a winner of the international travel photography contest World In Focus. For the World in Focus contest, he was selected as a category winner of photo essays with his story about the Dukha nomads from Mongolia. He was also awarded Official Selection in documentary projects by the International Continent Photography Awards 2014 for his work about Kazakh nomads in Mongolia. He received 3rd place for the Picture Of The Year Award in Norway 2013. Robert received two honorable mentions for the annual IPA Photography Awards 2014. His work has been published online at National Geographic 2014 in relation to their annual photography contest. Robert divides his time with work for newspapers and personal documentary projects.
