Caption: Staying at home for weeks with young children can be tiring. Project description: Norway had its first infection case registered on February 26th. The first corona death occurred March 12th. The Norwegian government and other public authorities introduced the strongest and most comprehensive measures ever used in peacetime from March 12th. The number of casualties in Norway until today is 233, with a population of 5,368 million. Strict restrictions have led to a low number of casualties. I have documented the everyday life of my own family when the restrictions were most stringent. My wife had to close her chiropractic clinic because of the Infection Protection Act, and she lost her source of income. Schools and kindergartens were closed and our family, along with many other Norwegian families, had to work from home. This resulted in a huge burden for toddler parents in general. I work on a fulltime basis as a health worker with people who are in the risk group. As a result of my job my wife had to take care of our children most of the time. My aim with this documentary project was to explore how such significant changes in our lives affects the daily lives of toddler parents. As a photojournalist I was not allowed to visit other families because of the restrictions. I have therefore photographed my own family.

I just discovered that I was a winner in an international photography contest 2020 in USA. The theme for the contest was Covid-19 and specifically «Portraits of Self-Isolation». My image was projected as part of exhibition in Vermont.
The picture was taken in March 2020 when The Norwegian government and other public authorities introduced the strongest and most comprehensive measures ever used in peacetime in Norway. This resulted in a huge burden for toddler parents in general.

As a photographer I was not allowed to visit other families because of the restrictions. I therefore photographed my own family. (Unfortunately, I discovered this news just recently as it was mixed up with advertising mails/gmail).
